Listen to your life. See it for the fathomless mystery it is. In the boredom and the pain of it, no less than in the excitement and gladness: touch, taste, smell your way to the holy and hidden heart of it because in the last analysis all moments are key moments and life itself is grace.

Spiritual Coaching

Spiritual coaching supports you as you awaken to truths and values that have guided you your whole life, even though you may not have been aware of their presence. Where therapy focuses on issues and ways to resolve them, spiritual coaching focuses on inner wisdom that becomes clearer to you each day.

We are all spiritual beings living our inner-directed lives in an outer-directed world.

Spiritual coaching supports you in your inner journey to become more attuned to who you are. It also supports you in your quest to become more of who you want to be.

We are all taught to react to events in our lives, rather than to thoughtfully respond in ways that are meaningful and reflective of who we really are. Spiritual coaching guides you to become attuned to yourself from within, so that your inner and outer selves are aligned in ways that lead you to feel secure and grounded – no matter what is going on around you.

All of us go through transitions in our lives. Unfortunately, we are not always aware of how to move through and beyond these transitions. Our earlier perceptions of how life “should be” may be displaced and shattered, and we find ourselves unsure of how to move forward.

You see where you want to be, but you don’t know how to get there.

You know the choices you’d like to make, but you don’t know how to initiate them.

You know what you’re capable of, but you don’t know how to let go of what’s holding you back.

Oftentimes choices in life are driven by logic and reason alone and at others by emotions alone. That is until we become aware of our inner wisdom trying to speak through us.

We become aware of a sacred sense of more that is tugging on our heartstrings, wanting to be seen and heard.

Spiritual choices are fed and led by deeply rooted beliefs that have guided you most of your life but are only becoming more consciously awakened and activated by you now.

The more you become attuned to your deeper, more authentic self, the more inclined you may become to making more meaningful life choices, choices that satisfy and reward you in more intrinsic ways. Spiritual coaching supports you along this journey.

Most people move through life in predictable ways — reacting to events rather than responding to them from within. Becoming more aware and learning to respond to events allows us to experience them in more choiceful ways.

Choosing to respond in ways that stay true to who we really are, rather than reacting in ways that are external to who we are, frees us to open up to our spiritual selves. We move from feeling stuck and mired in pain and disappointment, to hope and possibilities beyond that pain.

There are key experiences in our lives that I call marker moments. These generally are “ah ha!” moments when a veil seems to pull back, allowing us to see more clearly what was only blurry before.

These moments generally occur at times of transition in our lives. They seem to set time apart, filling us with awe, wonder, curiosity, and awareness that we are entering into new space.

Life seems to stand still at those moments. You discover and feel guided by parts of yourself that you never recognized were there before. Oh, there were glimpses of these more deeply hidden aspects of your Self, but you never really paid attention before.

Least of all, did you ever recognize that choices you felt guided toward making at these times were choices that were leading you into a more whole and purposeful sense of who you are.

You see, we’re not used to knowing ourselves during times of transition. We are inexperienced in knowing how to see or respond to ourselves in the face of change. When the old is removed and we enter into the new, it is understandable if we feel like we’re in a foreign land.

We are not used to seeing endings as beginnings.

We are not used to understanding that when one part of our life comes to an end another part is right there, ready to lead us forward.

Sometimes you become aware of your inner wisdom guiding you at the moments you least expect.

Maybe you’ve gone through a divorce that totally rearranged your life.

Or maybe you’ve been a stay-at-home mom who suddenly decided you would like to return to school.

Perhaps you’ve had a successful career but recognize now that you would like to develop a different career path.

Or maybe you’re a newly single parent mom or dad beginning a new but exciting life with your children.

There are myriad other examples of everyday transitions that lead to new beginnings!

When you see an ending as a beginning, you recognize that you want to stay true to yourself through your transition, rather than being guided by others.

Your heart expands, and you know yourself in a wider, deeper, and more profound way than you have ever known before.

In moments of higher consciousness like this, you know exactly where you need to be.

This is the exact space you are meant to move forward from.

In a heartbeat, you know that where you are now, is exactly where you need to be.

You understand that your whole life journey positioned you to be where you are now, and you want to make this your best effort to move forward with grace and equanimity.

You feel deep resonance and peace from within your whole Self.

You want to respond and not react! You don’t exactly know how you got here, and you’re not quite sure how to remain here, but you know with all of your heart that you need and want to continue following this path from the inside.

You know that your heart and soul are guiding you toward a more fulfilled life in some new and expanded way, and you want to follow!

If this describes you and you’re at this point, spiritual coaching can help you respond and follow your inner dialogue.

Your inner dialogue has been there all along, but is waking up to greater consciousness, now — at this time of transition, your new beginning.

New beginnings are also a time to seek a guide — someone who has successfully navigated life transitions, who understands spiritual journeys and who is skilled in helping people just like you.

By becoming attuned with you, I will help guide and empower you to take the next steps that are right and true for you. Together, we will explore which choices you want to make to help move your life forward in meaningful ways. Together, we will challenge impediments or barriers along your path that get in your way of achieving your stated goals.

You don’t have to embark on this journey alone.

Remember, when endings lead to new beginnings, you have an opportunity to make many different choices.

These choices might involve recognizing that the narrative you have been operating from is not truly your narrative, but rather one that you were born into and have accepted.

We are all born into families of origin, where we learn who and how to be to gain acceptance and approval. But becoming awakened to your true Self now, you begin to envision what, where, and how you see your Self moving forward in new ways. These new ways can lead you toward living your life in more fulfilling ways.

This might involve replacing beliefs and thoughts that currently hold you back, with new ones that allow you to express your Self in a more congruent way.

Another way that new beginnings can prompt new choices can occur when you recognize that how you respond in certain situations is not really how you would like to respond.

Similarly, if loss or other life transitions have jet-propelled you forward, you may lack a clear vision for how to use the experience to grow.

You may feel clear that you want to move forward, but may be unclear about what to do with remnant baggage stemming from transitions over which you had no control.

Having control over the choices we make is central to spiritual coaching.

While it is true that none of use are in control of what happens in our lives, it is also true that we are in control of the choices we make during these times.

Our choices become door-openers that change our lives for the better forever.

Through spiritual coaching you will be supported to let go of things over which you have no control, to focus instead on choices over which you do have control.

The simple truth, albeit a shocking one, is that we are not in control of anything but the choices we make.

This means we cannot control other people, we can only control ourselves.

Spiritual coaching focuses on choices you make, and inner-directedness you feel inclined to follow.

This might pertain to work, life, or love relationships, trauma or loss, academic achievement, health and illness, disaster recovery, financial reversals, leadership decisions, or any other life choices over which we want to lead our lives forward.

Remember — your choices in life define you.

The choices you make when your life comes to any fork in the road, will make all the difference in your life as you live it moving forward. Spiritual coaching supports and encourages you to become attuned and responsive to choices that better enable your life to reflect the truth of who you are and want to become.
